Terms of Service
These terms apply to the Polypage browser extension, its optional account and sync service, and polypage.app (together, “Polypage”). Polypage is provided by vill (“we”, “us”). By using Polypage you agree to these terms.
1. What Polypage is
Polypage is a reader for e-books and documents that you add yourself. It isn't a bookstore: we don't sell, host or distribute books, and book files you add stay on your device.
2. Your books and content
- Only add files you own or otherwise have the right to read. You are responsible for the files you open with Polypage.
- Polypage doesn't remove or bypass DRM or other copy protection, and you may not use it to do so.
- Your highlights, notes and other records belong to you. If you use sync, you give us permission to store and transmit them only to provide the service to you.
3. Account
- An account is optional and only needed for sync and paid features.
- Keep your sign-in details secure; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Beta, free features and paid plans
- Polypage is currently in beta. Features may change, and occasional bugs or interruptions are possible.
- Reading on your own device is free. Sync between devices is free during the beta.
- After the beta, some features — such as sync and integrations with other apps — may require a paid plan. We'll announce pricing and what's included before any charge applies, and features already working on your device won't be taken away.
- Paid plans will be sold through Google Play and are subject to Google Play's terms, including its refund rules.
5. Third-party services
Some features connect to services we don't operate — for example translation, text-to-speech, dictionary websites, Wikipedia, Google Books and cloud storage providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. When you enter your own API key, any usage charges from that provider are yours, and you're responsible for following the provider's terms.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use Polypage or its sync service to:
- break the law or infringe others' rights, including copyright;
- interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorized access to our servers or other users' data;
- use the sync service for anything other than syncing your own reading data.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.
7. Disclaimer
Polypage is provided “as is”. Translations, dictionary results and speech are produced by automated third-party services and may be inaccurate. Keep your own copies of your book files; we aren't responsible for files lost from your device's storage.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Polypage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; we'll revise the effective date and, for significant changes, notify you in the extension. You can stop using Polypage at any time by removing the extension and, if you have one, deleting your account.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
